Endurance is an old school dungeon crawler with rouge like elements.
(Also available for web)
You create a party, and explore the dungeons below, collecting loot and discovering new and dangerous monsters.
This alpha release has just a single level for testing, and comes with a lot of bugs! I’m hoping to work towards a beta by the end of August which will contain the first 3 levels.
The game was created almost entirely out of open source resources (sound, music and art) which I’m very thankful for as I’m primarily a programmer.
Feedback and suggestions are welcome. Please email me at admin[at]playendurance.com
This was quite a productive week!
I managed to create a new website www.playendurance.com, test and build a new WebGL version of the game, optimize the dungeon building a bit (should improve load times), added dungeon furnishings, and started on a new roof.
One thing I’d been meaning to do for a while is to create a system to automatically add furnishings to the dungeon. Right now I can add things like tables, and lights automatically, but it’d be nice to have something that auto placed all the smaller stuff.
Here’s an example. The sewer, and stone are placed by the new furnishing system. It knows how to place things along walls, in corners, and on the floor.
I also had a go at changing the ceiling graphics (right now I just use the floor tile), but it didn’t look great, so I think I’m going to have to go back and try again on this one.
Next week’s goals
Along with the new Beta, I’ve also been working a bit on a website for Endurance. I’m new to web development, so in the end I just put it together...
The last couple of weeks I haven’t made much progress on Endurance as I’ve been in the midst of moving countries. Now that things have settled down...
It’s been a while since I’ve done an update. But things have been ticking along.
Endurance is now in Beta! What does this mean? It means the game should be playable, at least for the first 3 levels, and that all the critical systems...
First patch for the second beta, -Added some details to the dungeon. -Various bug fixes. -Reduced filesize.
Mostly bug fixes from the previous version, including a problem where the camera would be stuck in the water after the first time the game was played.
The first Beta release of Endurance. All the key systems are in place, and the first 3 maps should be playable. Changes: - New ceiling and doors. - New...

Alpha 4 - Two new levels, new combat system, new combat UI, lots of bug fixes.
Is it going to be a free game or will you charge for it?
Hey great job with the game, although when you encounter a monster you can't see it and it confuses me because i don't know how the fight sequences work and if there's a specific way to attack/defend
This is excellent. Its the Mordor like game I've always wanted and have been working to program myself with a friend. We've now switched genres we are programming for altogether because we like where you are going so much. Keep this up, this is great.
I'm less anonymous now. If you need any specific areas of feedback or help in, let me know.
Hey, thanks! I think I accidentally down voted your comment when I was trying to up-vote it. Sorry about that! I really appreciate the feedback.
Yeah I put like 1000 hours into Mordor, and it's definitely part of the inspiration for this game.
Do you have a link to your game? I'd love to try it.
