FTL: MULTIVERSE v5.4 - ORCHIDS REVAMPED
Long time no see! As you can imagine, this patch focuses on updates to the Orchid race and their lore, arsenal and designs. Especially given the spotlight is their sister race, the Vampweeds, which debuff enemy crew and have a more aggressive playstyle compared to their normal counterparts. Alongside that, this update also adds a plethora of new weapons and ships, as well as bug fixes and quality of life changes across the board.
- ◢ Added Confederate Sectors, including 26 new events for them (and new music)
- ◢ Added the Confederate, Cultivator and Caretaker Cruisers. Also added one other secret Orchid cruiser
- ◢ Added over 110 new events across existing sectors. Tweaked some existing ones
- ◢ Added a "Neutral Sector" identifier. Neutral sectors will now show up as grey on the sector map
- ◢ Many ships, but particularly Union and Militia ships have new and improved sprites
- ◢ Child murder now has consequences
FTL: Multiverse now has an official installer for STEAM ONLY on Windows! All you need is a vanilla copy of FTL with no other mods installed. Download the mod, boot up the installer and select the directory with FTL in it.
Alternatively, if you prefer to use Slipstream Mod Manager, use a launcher besides Steam, or have Linux, you can do a manual installation with SSMM with the raw files provided here:

How to use Slipstream Mod Manager
This method also requires Hyperspace 1.9.0 to be installed. Installation steps for non-steam launchers here

Troubleshooting for Common Problems
followed your "simple" instructions and all I get is : Failed to find address for function CApp::OnInputFocus
Sounds like it didn't properly downgrade.
If you're using a non-Steam version like the one from Epic Games you'll need to use a specific downgrader linked here: Ftl-hyperspace.github.io
Where should I indicate the Multiverse_5.4.1.exe file to install to? The existing FTL library under steam or other place? Is it just an unpacker that runs an install exe afterwards?
The installer automatically does everything directly onto FTL so you select the Steam FTL directory and let it do the work
Does Multiverse_5.4.1.exe needs to be installed to the FTL directory under steam or other?
Yes, you just set the installer to the directory with the Steam version of FTL in it
Im installing to program files(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/FTL Faster Than Light. What am i doing wrong? The shortcut it creates on the desktop doesnt work. The original FTL shortcut tries to run it, but freezes on the load screen.
Sometimes running multiverse can be janky. Troubleshooting guide here: Reddit.com
TLDR; Some fixes for multiverse starting but not finishing loading are:
- running FTL in Windows 7/XP compatibility mode
- closing other programs to free up RAM (v5.4 has trouble with 8GB)
- minimising FTL while it loads/launching the game minimised
FTL with this mod struggles to run with *only* 8GB??? That's insane haha
my antivirus says its a troyan, please help
Some antiviruses will mark the installer as a false-positive for viruses, so you'll have to go into your antivirus and make an exception for it. If you're particularly uncomfortable with using the .exe, you can try installing manually instead
I have 1.6.13 and it`s on GOG ,can i instal it?
Yes. GOG Galaxy has an included downgrade feature, which you can use to downgrade to 1.6.9 so you can install the mod.

Unfortunately doesn't work for me. Hangs towards the end of the load screen, to a display driver issue according to an AMD popup. Tried most if not all remedies, so I guess it's a hardware issue. Thank you all the same.
Hey, we can help you better for more specific problems at our discord : Discord.com
i have game version 1.6.14.can i play this mod?
I could play Multiverse 5.3.But it had long loading time.game would take 2 minutes to start.
You'll need to downgrade to 1.6.9 to play Multiverse. This is automatically done with the included installer assuming your game is vanilla.
Alternatively, Hyperspace has an included downgrader as a part of its installation, with a very simple process: Ftl-hyperspace.github.io
what about the long loading time?I have 6 gb DDR3 ram and amd 3000 builtin graphics card.is that enough.
Your integrated graphics should probably be fine, but Multiverse will struggle with less than 8GB of ram, and you'll likely run into some issues. Long loading times are something you'll just have to deal with, unfortunately.
Does this mod works on steam deck ?
You can find a Steam Deck installation guide here: Ftl-hyperspace.github.io
