A look beyond the half-way point of development (version 0.50b onwards).

Greetings all.

Now with the seventh level completed, there's again time to fully focus on level detail and gameplay improvements. Some of these got done already in form of dodge mechanic and axe overhaul, both of which seem to work fine and add some good variety into gameplay - the dodge mechanic giving some interesting flavour to combat, while the axe now being a properly powerful force whilst looking the part. Even though the focus never was much towards melee in this game, hopefully the axe will serve as a suitable alternative in some combat scenarios.

Now these additions in place, it is time to think of future gameplay enhancements. I'm still unsure whether to give overhauls to all weapons like the axe - most likely not, as they serve quite well as-is, and too much graphical improvement might clash with the overall doom-like look. So, now as the arsenal is complete, what else is there to add? Perhaps inventory items, something more to light the levels, or more alcohol variety to stave off the horrors. We will see in the future - especially if I get to implementing the planned sanity system... although that will take some time to figure out how to do in the gzdoom engine.

As for the levels, one can never have enough detail, so I will continue working on that - for all the levels, but especially the early and later ones, since third and fourth are quite well detailed by now. Fifth level is so large that there will be a lot to do for it in the coming months (even though it's fully functional by now). Also, even though I have no shortage of ideas, any recommendations would be welcome... and thoughts about the game in general.

In essence, only things I'm lacking are time and player feedback when it comes to creating this game.
