New AI elements are coming in Ping version 2.0. I had to rewrite the entire AI code used in the original game. I created a preview of the new AI modes. It will randomly switch between three modes:
- Target ball
- Avoid ball
- inverse mirror player
In v2.0 of Ping the AI will not switch randomly, it will use context to actually actively attempt to make points, this preview is meant to allow people to test new features and give feedback.
The tech preview is available on the download page for Ping!
Please note that the preview is only coupled for windows, the game works fine in wine on mac and linux, with reduced performance. If you are using mac or linux you can use lower resolutions and fast, or fastest quality to achieve better playability.
