Dark Craft Studios

Founded in 2009 by Glenn Winkelmann Jr and Jason Daysh. The studio philosophy was to make Lovecraftian inspired and narrative driven modifications, initially for Cryengine 2. With a two year development cycle, "The Worry of Newport" first released for Crysis in 2011.

Development shifted bilaterally in 2011, between the projects "Triptych" for Crysis 1 and "Sapience" for Crysis 2. The studio tripled in size during this period, with resources split between both endeavors. The former, a continuation of the horror format and the latter a darker, more somber take on Sci-Fi shooters.

The entirety of the Sapience team would eventually leave the studio to focus on it exclusively (Jason Daysh, Maarten Basjes, Mark Jones, Roland Mezey, Viktor Balazs, and others) while Triptych development was helmed by Glenn Winkelmann Jr and Ian Wiese.

Triptych would have a long and complicated development cycle, prototyping in 2011 only to release in 2017. Sapience would officially be cancelled the same year. Afterwards, a one year hiatus would see most of the studio go their separate ways.

Development on the next modification by the studio, "The Shadow of the Ramlord" would begin in 2018 and conclude the next year. It marked the final release for Dark Craft Studios, before it was symbolically retired in 2020.
