SRRD is a hybrid of Strategy Railroad Logistics, RTS resources and base build, and Tower Defense. The setting is fictional, but with a historic middle 20th century feel. The First Release is available now as a set of single-player missions in Campaign I. For Campaign II there will be new features centered around a more interactive build-able world on each level. .
Trains being deployed at the Railyard now have an "undo" button to put cars back in inventory. You will be able to click back to remove each placed car, and even the Locomotive to start over again. Once the train is started on a route you won't be able to recall cars with this button, though you can always send the train Home.
Enemy Vehicles will show as blips on the Mini-Map, within a certain range of player structures. This will not reveal enemies on the entire map, but the radius is over twice the range of Howitzer Turrets. Enemy Structures will always show up on the Mini-Map
Player Turrets will show their Maximum range as a ring when being placed, and whenever selected. This range is the approximate searching distance to acquire targets, so you will have a better idea of the coverage for each turret type.
The Railcar Foundry will show exactly the amount of each missing resource needed to build a unit when selected, instead of a generic error message.
Locomotives will have a function to delete a Halt Marker if it has been placed.
Halt Markers on the ground can be selected, which opens the controls for their parent Locomotive. This will allow it to be deleted, or placed again quickly.
The Mouse Wheel will scroll train unit lists in the GUI without changing the main camera zoom level.
The first release of Steel Republic Rail Defender will be coming soon. Here are some details about what that will include.
A short informational video about the Camp stations, which are a key defensive structure at locations found on the map. See the progression of upgrades...
