Forum Management Features (Groups : Desura : Forum : Website : Forum Management Features) Locked

Don't know if this should be in feature requests or here, but I put this here because it is related to the website and the forum platform.

Some things that would be nice (or even crucial) from a community management point of view:

- Mass thread management actions (lock, open, move etc). If there was an option for admins to do that by checkboxes and then perform a mass action, it would immensely help some kind of operations.

- Ability to deactivate the autolock threads feature. I run the Dominions 3 and Conquest of Elysium 3 forum and both communities have threads that might get new posts less than once per year and needing to individually unlock threads upon user request because the forum software insists on autolocking threads is simply unacceptable. It's a waste of my time and a waste of the user's time that could be avoided if the admin can deactivate autolock. As longa s the feature can be turned on or off (preferably on a per subforum basis), it's a neat thing and a good feature, but if not, then it's a net negative.

- Ability for administrators to edit their own forum profile permissions. Running into a situation where one must first assign admin permissions to another users who can then give them to you so you can edit your own threads is NOT something that should ever be needed to do. When setting up the Dominions 3 forum, I had been given permissions to do everything by the leaders of the company (Illwinter Game Design), including the ability to edit forum structure and set things up in the first place, but I was unable to edit staff threads until I deputized someone so they could give me the permissions.

- Ability to merge threads or split and move individual posts from one thread to another. Right now this is impossible, but is practically a basic requirement for any properly functioning forum software.

Managing a community or even building one without having the necessary tools at hand if hard, because lack of such features drives people away to other communities and forums where such features are standard. Setting up a forum here is easy. Managing one a lot less so due to lack of features.

While my post may sound a little terse, it is probably a reflection of the frustration with the lack of features I would have found a need for. It is not intended to be personal against anyone and I offer these suggestions and requests with the aim of making things better here. Please take them in that context.
