When people talk about the longest-running Animes of all time, I think a lot of people seem to forget that this show is very quickly approaching 900+ episodes, nearly 30 seasons, 20 years, and something like 20+ movies in total and is still going strong to this day. It even rivals WWE RAW/Smackdown's world record for having the most episodes every produced for a single show (Very close behind it, RAW having 1,200+ episodes in total and Smackdown having ~890).
Detective Conan is in my opinion one of the best detective shows and one of the best cartoons in general of all time. It is extremely clever, suspenseful, dramatic, charming, and funny all at the same time, as well as having a really enjoyable and classic detective film vibe to it, while having a loose narrative where every single episode can stand alone on it's own (A quality I think is very admirable). It follows Shinichi Kudo (Jimmy Kudo in the American-English releases, and probably other English releases too) as he is an incredibly talented dude when it comes to detective work. He is so talented in fact that a crime syndicate poisons him in an attempt to kill him but for some reason it instead reverts him back being ~10 years old. He ends up moving in with his best friend and girlfriend Ran Mouri posing as a kid, pretending to be related to Hiroshi Agasa whom is a scientist friend of both Shinichi and Ran, named Conan Edogawa (Referencing two other great detective works) with the goal of making her father, Kogoro, a world-famous detective in an attempt to attract cases that may be related to the mysterious organization that tried to have him killed.
In the end, only one truth prevails! Case Closed! *Queue funky music*
This must be the longest series I've ever seen, when it comes to Anime O_O
for the real longest anime series, there is Sazae-san. that thing is still running since the 70s. D:
but yeah, for anime with "actual plot", it can't be doubt Conan is the longest one.
I didn't mean to say this was the longest, just that it was one of the longest.
Also, looking that up, seriously 7,000+ episodes? That's definitely the world record for most episodes ever produced for a single TV show, not WWE. xD
Although maybe length of each episode comes into play for that world record, since these episodes are only 5 to 7 minutes long.
