This group has been formed to gather the people who enjoy Japanese anime and all of its facets, to salute the people from the land of the Rising Sun.
BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad.
Yukio has always been a pretty boring teenager with no real talents or resolve about his future.
Then one day he accidentally meets Ryusuke, who turns out to be a guitarist looking to form a new band. Since then they meet from time to time and Yukio grows interested in music. One day he decides he wants to learn playing guitar. Months later he joins a rock band that Ryusuke newly formed.
Manga follows band's struggle to gain popularity and publish albums as they get into the cruel reality of music industry.
One can feel that BECK's author loves music, and this manga IS about music. (not like in crappy K-on!, where music is just a pretty decoration.) Most of problems band encounters are things that happen to musicians in real life. Manga also has plenty of visible (and hidden) references to real bands.
If you make music, you MUST read it.
BECK also has an anime adaptation, which is highly recommended as well.
It has only 1 season though, so it covers only 1/3 of manga's story.
To realistic >:F
If I got myself into the anime, I will have to get myslf into the manga as well. This hits the jackpot! I like it alot! Pretty kewl!
you really should.
anime ending was pretty dissapointing, with its US tour photo flashbacks.
I mean seriously, after the whole "i was made to hit in america" one would think they'll actually show that tour.
So manga follows the whole tour in present time. and even after it's over it's still only the first half of the story.
at first it felt weird to see concerts and music portrayed with just images, but it's easy to get used to it. just turn on some adequate music and everything works fine.
I dont know...mabe it is. I like the detail of the guitar...and the character. Is that bad or good? Realistic. I thought Beck...nevermind.
actually I wonder why BECk don't get the 2nd season. but I see the live-action movie released some time ago.
i guess it wasn't popular enough to get another season. :/
which makes me rage when i see k-on being so popular...
and yeah that movie seems interesting, too bad nobody subbed it yet (i think). maybe it will bring some interest back to the series.
maybe Ran blacklisted this anime? D:
