Interesting. I assumed they were going for T-90S rather than Tagil, as Tagil means Relikt and other APS such as Cerberus, which aren't (afaik) available for export license production yet. Something odd about that RWS tower though...

Cool if true, it would mean there were some serious manufacturing investments made under the table that we didn't get to see.

Not exactly under the table, the talks about this surfaced almost a year ago.

T-90S, as opposed to T-90MS. I'm not saying it's a bad thing at all, the difference is that the T-90MS is quite a bit more complex than the T-90S, which has been around as a staple export for awhile now. It would be harder, as you would understand, to domestically begin production of the T-90MS.

To media, it makes no difference what T-90 it is. The more secretive side I was inferring (under the table was probably a poor choice of words) is whether the deal concerning domestic manufacturing of Tagil was made covertly to avoid certain, ahem, prying eyes. A certain country completely lost their bananas when they heard Iran was to receive S-300s, and just like the S-300, the T-90MS will represent a significant boost in power parity for Iran.

There's no official specs yet, but it looks like Iran begun license producing the T-90MS.
