Very dumb Arctic fox. Giving out free and open-source hugs. Also a GoldSRC modder, and a gamedev. (idTech 3, 4, Godot, Unigine)
The story goes:
While I was writing my super long terrain tutorial for GoldSrc back in August 2017, I made this little section. It's a big cave made out of tetrahedra.
After I published the tutorial on GameBanana this month, a guy at the Sven Co-op Discord asked me "How does this not melt your computer?", something like that. I said I'd compile the map. Another guy agreed.
And, knowing my 11-year-old laptop, this would've taken hours hadn't I optimised it. The compilation took just a minute and nearly 45 seconds. (VIS only took 0.44 seconds) (and don't forget, I ran VIS with -full and RAD with -extra, so without those 2 it's even faster)
Now I have to optimise the clipnodes, a lot.
Oh man so nice.
Thanks. If it weren't for the Half-Life textures, it wouldn't even look like GoldSrc. :D
