Hi. I am a Battlefield 2 modder, I work with ported weapons, do some textures, basic map making and tweaking and stuff. When I'm not modding I'm hunting, fishing, playing some sports, playing other mods for BF2 (FH2 is my favorite).
The Battle of Tarawa lasted from November 20th to 23rd 1943 between the US 2nd Marine Division and the Japanese Special Naval Landing Force. The landing was complicated by heavy Japanese fire from inland bunkers and low tides made Higgins boats catch on the coral reef surrounding the island, Marine LVT's were able to cross the reef only to be knocked out by shore guns. This resulted in the Marines wading thier way to shore under heavy Japanese small arms and artillery fire. At the end of the three day battle one US Carrier was sunk and 90 of 125 LVT's were disabled and a total of 1,009 Marines were killed.
The beach isnt completed yet, you can see the main outline of the island. Only a portion of the airfield is visible on the picture and the dock did not show up on the picture. Still heavy WIP.
