A fan-made, NOT FOR PROFIT sequel to the critically acclaimed shooter "Spec Ops: The Line".
In the aftermath of his psychological breakdown as a result of his journey through the hellish landscape of a post-apocalyptic Dubai, Captain Martin Walker slaughters the contingent of American soldiers sent to rescue him and retreats back into the city. Six months later, Walker has declared himself the de facto ruler of the city and has dedicated himself to the survival of it's remaining citizens, at any cost.
Meanwhile, a team of Tier One Operators, led by Special Warfare Operator Virgil McNally, is covertly sent in to Dubai to find Walker and bring him in for court martial, to answer for his crimes. Little do they know the horrors that the ruined city and Capt. Walker have waiting for them.
Spec Ops: The Road Back will be a cover-based, Third-Person shooter with tactical gameplay, ideally built using Unreal Engine 4.
I know a lot of people aren't in favor of a sequel to Spec Ops (At least those who even know what Spec Ops is) but I for one want to see more of this world, and with Yager currently working on Dead Island 2, I figured that the only way it would happen anytime soon is if I made it myself.
What I want to do is something like the Bioshock 2 to "The Line's" Bioshock. a story in the same universe made by dedicated fans of the original. Then if Yager ever decides to revisit Spec Ops, their game will be like the Bioshock Infinite of the series.
Okay, full disclosure: I really don't know what in the hell I'm doing. I'm primarily a writer. That's what I know how to do. But I'm currently teaching myself animation in order to have a useful skill to contribute to this project. I'm fully aware that no one in the mod community is interested in dealing with, as a user on the UDK forums uniquely put it: "Ermagherd, I wanna make 1337 gamez: I tell you what to do, you make it - I play it". Ideally I would write the game and produce the cutscenes, as well as help out with gameplay animations. This means that everything else is up for grabs, including Lead Designer. That's right: I'm fully prepared for one of you to take the lead on this project. I'm not a leader, and I sure as hell don't know anything about game design. I realize that I don't have the skills necessary to take the lead on this. What I DO have is dedication and a creative mind, that I hope will serve to help this project see the light of day.
So whaddya think?
Hi all. Just wanted to give anyone who's interested a brief update on where development stands. Things slowed down considerably because of the holiday, but rest assured we're still here. Right now we're still working on concept art, as well as other pre-production concerns like growing the team. Development basically stagnated at the end of 2014, but I fully intend to hit the ground *sprinting* at the speed of sound in this new year. So expect to see new concept art, as well as hopefully character and environment renders in the next few weeks. And as always, if anyone's interested in becoming a part of the Roadhouse Games team and helping to see this game come to fruition, feel free to send me a PM on or e-mail me at jmanjf@aol.com.-Nicodemus07
We've got one more piece of concept art for Spec Ops: The Road Back". Check it out!
Wait... I didn't expect Spec Ops: The Line fangame to exist...
Looks good! but I'm so sad this game seems abanded.
I'm going to go ahead and guess that this is a dead project which is extremely sad. I would have loved to see this. Spec Ops: The Line is and will always be one of my favorite games. Amazing story with amazing gameplay.
Hey dude I just played The Line today and I have to say it was the best story based experience i have ever had in a video game. Plyed it from start to finish, it's one of those games that you can't put down till you see what happens next, you know? The voice acting felt so real like they were not reading from a script. The music was dramatic and the overall mood was set perfectly for the entirety of the game. Everything about the story just made me search and search the internet for a possible petition, page, or thread about a sequel. Thank god I found this. I am 100% backing this project and please email me at: austinisafk@gmail.com. I am fully willing to help in any way on this project. I will help in programming, modelling, art design, just anything to help see this thing through. I know your project is not getting a lot of attention but please do not let that stop you from making it.
Dude sounds pretty sweet. If you need a developer or modeler, I'm more than willing to help out. I'm working on my own game, but still having problems getting it in the works y'know? So it'd probably be a good idea to get myself to do actual work.
Either way tracking.
Tracking!
I love those Logo Concepts
Thanks a bunch! :)
Good Luck ;)
I can't wait for it... Good Luck!
I'd love to see this happening. Good luck.
