3 years... and I have finally stopped pressing 'F9' without changing any settings.
This is a quick render of the diffuse only.
This allows you to see the details that will be combined with the normal detail that you saw previously.
Has usual I did not do any work on the specular map while doing the diffuse, in fact, I actually used the 'NormalMap.fx' shader to preview the texture on the model because it does not require a 'Specular' map, but instead uses a flat colour value for the specular channel (the normal map has a input spinner, so you can 'turn it off'. You can remove the specular highlights by turning the specular colour to black).
My next task will be to add a specular map, for which I will switch to the 'ObjectGeneric' shader, so that I can preview it while I am creating it.
