I've been going around as a writer, but started getting drawn into Concept Art and 3D modeling. I'm currently finishing my studies as a 3D artist and will then be let loose on the world. Beware!
all shells are stacked on top of each other and share the texture space. This way I can have higher detail on a decent size map. It does mean I had to split the mesh up a little more than I usually would, but since UDK handles loading a few extra polygons better than loading another material, it is well worth it.
