Shallow Space is a 3D Real Time Strategy game inspired by Nexus: The Jupiter incident and Homeworld. Shallow Space focuses on organised mass RTS space combat in a fully 3D environment. Ships in Shallow Space are nearly always grouped into Flotillas and Wings, and orders issued to these structures cascade to the subordinate members. Rather than stressing out clicking on the units or dragging selection boxes during the heat of battle, standing orders are issued in advance leaving you to zoom around, activating abilities and arranging support and reinforcements. Should the tide turn in battle traditional control is still available.
Here's an early rendition of the minimap, I'm not sure that's a good name for it as it's drag-gable and resizeable. It forms the first tab of the 'Operations' window which will contain tabs for various map and communication functions.
Always to be able to see the bigger picture. Very handy when you're able to pause play and survey the area with it :)
how about instead of minimap, call it the Omnimap, or Modular Map, or Holographic Resizable Modular Multi Sized Omnimap.
In all seriousness Omnimap sounds really cool
Someone on Facebook suggested macromap - which I really liked actually!
bummer :( its a nice fitting name i just prefer the word Omni over Macro and had a secret hope that my Omnimap name would be used lol.
It's a really cool name 'omnimap' but 'macromap' makes more sense in the context. It's a tough call and there can be only one winner - sorry man :(
its k np. it does make more sense.
now if the map could go in all 360 directions and could be laid out flat and project a holograph of the battlefield with holographic ships then omnimap would fit a lil better i think lol.
